Second Grade Expectations
1.    Develop a solid skill base
2.    Apply learned skills and strategies
3.    Work independently
4.    Be organized and responsible
5.    Have appropriate behavior everywhere (self-discipline)
6.    Practice oral and silent reading regularly for improved fluency and comprehension (remembering and understanding)
7.    Increase sustained reading
8.    Vary genres: fiction, non-fiction
9.    Learn math facts


Second Grade Creed
Today I am here to learn. I have the right to fail, but it is my choice to succeed. I do not have the right to prevent my teacher from teaching, and other students from learning.   I will proudly respect myself and others who try to succeed in learning. 
While I have the opportunity I will use each day to the fullest. Good choices today will help me succeed along life’s way. 


     Classroom Rules

1- Listen when others are talking.
2- Follow directions.
3- Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
4- Work quietly and do not disturb others.
5- Show respect for school and personal property.
6- Work and play in a safe manner.
7- Use self-control.

10:30-11:15-Planning Time
11:15-11:50-Social Studies/Science
11:55-12:25-Lunch
12:25-12:40-Recess
1:00-2:45-Language Arts
2:45-3:15-Writers Workshop


Daily Silent Reading Experience                                                             October is Octobear  Month
4-7 minutes per day = scores on test will improve 30%
15 minutes per day  = scores will increase 70%                        
30 minutes per day  = scores increase 90% 
60 minutes per day  = scores increase 95%
